There was something grounding about walking beside him all day, the rhythm of their steps syncing together.. He matched her pace instinctively, slowing when the ground grew uneven, giving her space when she wanted it and stepping closer when she didn’t say she did.
Tonight, he was tense.
She could feel it in the way he paced the perimeter of their camp before settling down, in the way his weight was consistently shifting. His heartbeat was quicker than usual, thudding faintly through the earth when he stood. He hadn’t said much since they’d passed through the village at dusk.

Tobio finds out that his dad is actually very much alive and also the dad of Iwaizumi Hajime. Tobio moves in with the Iwaizumis, falls in love with Oikawa (has he ever not been in love with Oikawa?) and makes his way through high school with the help of his new family and friends.
