Summary
In the Land of Monsters, Kai's everyday struggles against horrific creatures and unforgiving terrain created a passive habit of suicidal thought, a habit that didn't fade on his return to the monastery. With all of his support systems in havoc since The Merge, he sees no reason to keep going. Every day is a struggle to find some tiny reason to stay, knowing that one day, he'll run out of reasons.
He misses Jay dearly. Maybe he'd be able to talk Kai out of these terrible thoughts, just like Kai did for him years ago, but this person in the monastery isn't the Jay he knows. Is he?
A spiritual successor/sequel work to Vyoleya's work, "maybe i'll never sleep."

The worst day of Kai’s life, once upon a time, was the day his parents vanished. The day he woke up in his bed, long after he was supposed to, and was met with an empty house. The day he spent hours searching, calling out, looking for his parents, a baby sister at his side.
The worst day of Kai’s life was the day he lost everything he had. His parents, his childhood, his education. The day his world crumbled around him without any hope of being rebuilt the way it was.
That was the worst day of Kai’s life. He assumed, from that day til this one, that it couldn’t get much worse than. He had been wrong.
The worst day of Kai’s life comes over thirteen years after that day his parents disappeared. His sister, Nya, who he has raised since she was three years old, and he was six, turns into water in front of his eyes.

“Mmm,” he moans, bending in half and letting his mouth fall open as corn and acid drip off his tongue. “Ugh.” He brings his wrist up to wipe his face, and that’s when he spots it. An angry, red bite mark, resting in the torn fabric of his sleeve. “Wait. Wait. Wait.” Like a broken record, he repeats. He doesn’t know what else to say, his mind is reeling, whirling. He doesn’t know what to do, what to think. “Wait.”
There is no waiting, the world keeps spinning as if nothing had even happened.

When Nya becomes one with the water during Season 14: Seabound, she doesn’t come back
so quickly as in Season 15: Crystalized.Jay is off on his own, the ninja are struggling to cope, but Kai in particular does not deal well with Nya’s “death.” This is my take on how he grieves.
