Summary
After Wednesday's first and final year of Nevermore ended in blood, fire, and the destruction of a puritan pilgrim, Nevermore pulled out all the stops to help those who graduated during that year find places for themselves, with programs to find University places, apprenticeships, and more.
As Wednesday settles in for her second time with Enid Sinclair as a roommate, she knows things won't be the same this year. With far more knowledge than ever before about the curse that plagues her family, that flows through the blood in her veins, she knows her black heart beats only for one reason.
With an influx of Outcasts, strangeness abounds at the university, and Wednesday is always a sucker for a good mystery, especially with the word murder on everyone's lips.
Yet even more mysterious, Wednesday seems unable to keep Enid's friends at arm's length like she once could. With a werewolf, a siren, and a vampire backing her up, she couldn't possibly end up in more mischief, right?

“It’s supposed to make you feel so many things that it doesn’t make sense, but, like, in a good way,” Enid finished. What Wednesday said next was like an out of body experience for her. She forgot for a second that she was a coward when it came to her heart’s desire and it was a lapse that she might never forgive herself for.
“Show me,” Wednesday said. Enid stared at her for a second, not comprehending what she was saying.
“What?” Enid asked, certain Wednesday couldn’t have meant what it sounded like.
“Show me what all the fuss is about,” Wednesday clarified.

“Hey, wolfie, everything’s gonna be okay. You could always find a partner to help solve your ‘problem’.” Yoko wiggled her eyebrows at Enid, making the blonde punch her in the arm lightly.
“Ow,” Yoko pouted, rubbing her arm. Seriously, what is she gonna do? It’s not like she could just ask anyone to help her with this. Well, she could ask one of the girls from the school pack, but she doesn’t like the thought of having to sleep with someone she barely even knows.
“You know I can’t do that, Yoko,” she sighed, “I can’t just ask anyone to do that.” Yoko rubbed her back as a comforting gesture and returned her gaze to Divina. She couldn’t help but notice a figure dressed in all black walking behind her girlfriend.
An idea sparked in her mind, and she turned back to Enid with a smirk. “Hey, you said you can’t just ask anyone, right? Why not ask someone you know, for example, Wednesday?”

Enid's rut starts, and she does everything in her power to keep a safe distance from Wednesday so she doesn't pounce on her, but Wednesday doesn't like how her werewolf is avoiding her. They find themselves in a friends-with-benefits type of relationship that turns into something more.

“Exactly. By monitoring your reactions, documenting the progression, and identifying methods to alleviate your symptoms.” She folded her arms. “It would be both practical and educational. So, do you accept my help?”
