Claire: Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be getting married for a second time. To man I know nothing about, except what his uncle has told mine, or what I've managed to read online. None of this would have had to happen if my cousin Elliot was still around, but after he was killed during a war with Ireland, it was my duty to step forward and become my uncles right hand man, or woman, I suppose.

Jamie: When Dougal suggested the only way for us to win a fair fight against the Irish was for us to pull forces wi' Lambert Beauchamp and his men down in England, I almost laughed in his face. There was no way I saw Lambert ever putting his grievances wi' Dougal aside to join forces. Even if it was to fight a common enemy.
I was wrong, though. But, the only way to make sure our new partnership worked, was for me to marry someone from Lambert's outfit.

Summary

Claire: Five years ago I left everything behind in Glasgow, including my parents, to start a new life for myself down in London. It’s been... fine. I miss my parents, of course I do. That’s why I decided to come home for Christmas this year.
The plan was to arrive late in the evening on Christmas Eve, and leave on Boxing Day before anyone in town knew I was home.
Things don’t always work out as you plan though.

Summary
May 2007, eighteen year old Jamie and seventeen year old Claire reluctantly give their child up for adoption after their parents persuade them it’s for the best. Claire holds a lot of resentment towards Jamie, his parents, and her own, so she moves down to London to become a doctor.
Thirteen years later, Claire returns to Inverness when her mother suffers a stroke and is in hospital. How will Claire react when she learns that the daughter she reluctantly gave away, has actually been living with the Fraser’s for most of her life, thinking Jamie was her older brother?
Faith Fraser always knew she was adopted, but she never knew who her biological parents were. Not until Ellen passes away and leaves a letter to each of her children. In the letter addressed to Faith, Ellen confesses to Jamie being the lass’ real father. How will Faith cope with the news that her brother is in fact her father?
How will Jamie cope now that Claire is back and now holds even more anger and resentment towards him?

Jamie Fraser suffered for a long time after the deaths of his Mother and Brother in an accident when he was fourteen, and then the death of his father three years later. He has a very successful business and a pretty decent life, but somethings missing. He wants a family of his own. He decides that Surrogacy is the best route for him to take.
Claire Beauchamp is a nurse at the Golden Jubilee hospital in Clydebank. After her parents died when she was five, her uncle Lamb became her guardian. Whilst over in Egypt working, Uncle Lamb has taken ill and now Claire must try and raise money to bring him back over to the UK. After some serious thought, she decides that becoming a surrogate is the only way to be able to raise the funds needed.
