Lucius breathes, “Oh, God,” next to him, and Ed’s blood runs cold, ice in his veins, before he even turns to look.
People are all heading in one direction; most of them are straggling now, the show they’re heading towards already having begun, but the haphazardly-scrawled sign— accompanied with a rough sketch of Stede— advertises tonight’s main event for all to sea.
“What’s it say?” Wee John asks. “Is it bad?”
“That’s the Captain,” Jim says. “It says ‘torture show’ above it, right there. Pointing down the path.”
The crew goes silent. Ed’s motionless for only a moment.

Summary
Hannibal smiles and kisses the back of his hand, brushes his fingertips down the new scar along Will’s cheek. Tells Will he loves him, and he’s missed him, that he’ll take care of Will, jagged facial scars and possible amnesia and all. Says something in a foreign language Will doesn’t remember being taught, then gets this deep melancholy in his expression when Will blinks up at him in confusion. Sits down in the chair beside Will’s bed quietly until Will slips back into unconsciousness, holds his hand gently until the night shift nurse informs Hannibal that visiting time ended two hours ago.

When he wakes up, he has giant gaps in his memory, though he doesn't realize how big they really are when the nurses announce his husband--Hannibal--has been contacted and is on his way.
