    Jonathan Sims has been awake too long, losing every part of himself in his work. He thinks he is human, but does he know that?

    Moving through the threshold felt nauseating, pressing in on him at every angle and contorting his mind as he traveled. The colors pulsed behind his eyes, ones that only he could see as the Distortion. They plunged their knife into his gut, slicing him in two as he tried to continue forward. The knives were from his home, he remembered the block that sat in the corner, remembered the spirals and angles that represented his home in the endless corridors and rooms.

    In this place, there wasn’t as much comfort as his old home. The colors were softer, warmer than the stabbing, hateful, bright hues that he slept among. The gentle shape of the room was much kinder than his home, sweeter than the endless twisting.

Some itching knowledge in the back of her skull which whispers she exists past her own expiry, shuttled along the tracks far beyond where they should have come to an end and now lives with one foot over the edge of a great precipice. She would’ve long hit the bottom, if not for Michael.
