Summary
Ryland goes MIA after a tense fight with Colt regarding his questionable choice to return to stunt work.
Interwoven with fragments of their childhood and the years that followed, the story shows Court and Colt as they search for their younger brother, completely unaware that it was him whom they watched live on TV just days beforehand.
The pieces to the puzzle surrounding Ryland's disappearance fall into place when Colt discovers messages from an unknown number- messages which he had received barely two days before the Hail Mary launch.

Summary
“Stratt.” He goes to place her coffee on her desk like he always does when he notices that she’s already holding one. The man is holding an identical coffee cup.
“Oh, is that for me?” She’s smiling up at him. Grace nods dumbly.
“Seems like I beat you to it. Sorry, man.” The guy says genuinely. He’s standing way too close to her. And he looks way too smug about getting Stratt a coffee. Grace does it every day, multiple times.
“Oh, no, I’ll take it, Dr. Grace.” She puts her coffee down and reaches for his. He smiles down at her and doesn’t break eye contact as she takes the cup from his hand. It isn’t until she brings the coffee to her lips and takes a sip that he finally breaks eye contact and sits in his normal chair across from her.
“So, what’s up?”
“Dr. Grace, I’d like you to meet Dr. Jonas. He is going to be your replacement after the Hail Mary launches.”
If he were standing, his knees would’ve given out.

Dr. Ryland Grace thinks that his plans after the Hail Mary launches include applying for jobs back in the Bay Area and calling Director Eva Stratt every other week. Director Stratt knows him better than that.

Somehow there isn't fic about this movie? Ok then.
Lila wasn't sure how she'd gotten herself into this mess. She was sure it was Sydney's fault, like most of the trouble she'd found herself in since they'd met in college.
Did Lila want to turn up to her work benefit, and see her rat bastard ex-husband, with his 22 year old girlfriend? No, no she did not. But hiring an escort seemed a little… much.
Gary isn't sure how an overheard conversation about him "taking care of someone" led this woman to believe he could be hired as a date for her friend, and wants to figure out what about his look is saying date/murder for hire. But the picture she shows him of her friend grabs his interest, so he might as well see where it goes. -

“No! No, no, he just gave me a hell of a tip earlier.” She pulled out the hundred-dollar bill she had shoved in her pocket. “Didn't strike me as the kinda guy to have that kinda cash y’know.”
Her boss chuckled, “Texas, you’re gonna see a lot of guys that look like they never worked a real job in their life, and a lot of them are gonna be throwin’ around cash like that.” He shrugged and gave her a sympathetic smile, “Welcome to Charlestown.”
