"We were very young, once, Kaoru," Kyo's voice whispered as softly as a memory even as tattooed fingers reached up, up, hovered for a heartbeat across Kaoru's cheek and changed course to instead tuck back a few strands of his hair. Brotherly, and yet. And yet, those eyes, hooded and painted, lingered on his mouth for far too long. They had been young, once, full of feelings too big, too bold, and too strange to navigate without hurting each other. But they aren't young now. Not anymore.

A man stood there, a little taller than himself, in a pair of dark Adidas track pants and matching jacket, his hand raised to knock once more. Kyo did not mean to actually open the door more than a crack, but the features that stared back at him (sardonically amused, perhaps a bit displeased) had him yanking on the handle to stick his head out.
"What the fuck," he snapped, bewildered.
"Well, good to see I'm just as rude as I remember," the man drawled, sticking out a booted foot to keep him from slamming it shut again.
