Summary
Lily Evans and Severus Snape. A couple well-known for their philia and pragma, their friendship and enduring devotion, but doomed to the confines of tragedy. In reality, after reality, their union is always cursed under the tears of tragedy and never graced with the laughter of comedy. That is their fate. Their destiny.
However, the prayers of the star-crossed souls joined with the promise of merriment moves the Moirai Fata to spin a new thread of reality, one divined from two threads intertwined by their immortal intervention and collaboration. A thread that may finally permit a happy ending for Lily and Severus.
Written for the Snape BigBang 2020 competition.

Her daughter is five years old when Ursa realises what she and Ozai have been doing to their children. By each choosing one to bestow with their approval, they’re pitting them against one another. Perhaps Ozai is doing it on purpose, but Ursa isn’t. She resolves to heal the damage she has done.
In which Ursa tries to be a better parent to Azula, and it doesn’t change very much. And then, quite abruptly, it changes everything.

Zuko walks to the edge and strips his tunic off.
Azula walks to the middle of the floor. “That’s new,” she says. “You used to be able to fight clothed.”
Zuko huffs something that might have been a laugh on someone less uptight. “I figured out how to stop them from criticising,” he says, and nods over to the edge of the room with the small gathering of not-exactly-fans.
Azula looks over. The Water Tribe siblings and the Kyoshi girl are staring at Zuko. There might be blushing involved.
Azula is delighted. “How did you even know the Kyoshi Warrior would react like that?” she asks. “Didn’t you just meet?”
_____Azula’s laughter bubbles up from somewhere deep when she remembers how Zuzu had stripped his tunic off before their game on the beach. He’s become tactical.

Jason short-circuits for a beat, and then runs the words back. “What?”
Tim takes a deep breath, and it’s steady. “I’m going to die,” he repeats, “and I don’t want to be alone, so please stay on the line.”

There’s a bit of shuffling on the other end. “Dying.” Tim says, like he’s been possessed. He has to have been. Fuck, Tim, you don’t just ask a guy what dying was like. If they had any sort of societal rules regarding zombies, Jason’s pretty sure that’d be fucking rule number one right there. “Um— it’s. Is it scary?” He catches himself. “Sorry— was it scary?”
