What's good enough to be considered alive? A plant is alive in spite of the lack of blood coursing through its veins. Or does the hole on Floor 2 care for a thing that breathes, with warmth underneath supple skin, for it to act as sacrifice?
And if that something mimics it to the best of its abilities even though it's not alive, does that count too?
Or, an alternative end to Floor 2 where Protag has less of a moral high ground.

".. Yeah." The man in glasses nods, picking at himself in an attempt to make him look a little less worse-for-wear. Their drinks were slid towards them, two glasses of beers. "What about you?"
Rody bit the inside of his cheek before taking a swig, "In and out of jobs. I quit a bigger one a couple weeks ago cause my boss sucked."
Not the most charming first impression, huh? He didn't know how pathetic that sounded until he said it out loud.
