Summary
What's good enough to be considered alive? A plant is alive in spite of the lack of blood coursing through its veins. Or does the hole on Floor 2 care for a thing that breathes, with warmth underneath supple skin, for it to act as sacrifice?
And if that something mimics it to the best of its abilities even though it's not alive, does that count too?
Or, an alternative end to Floor 2 where Protag has less of a moral high ground.

Rody bit the inside of his cheek before taking a swig, "In and out of jobs. I quit a bigger one a couple weeks ago cause my boss sucked."
Not the most charming first impression, huh? He didn't know how pathetic that sounded until he said it out loud.

Vincent stiffens as Rody’s fingers brush across his temple and gently tuck a strand of hair behind his ear, leaving a prickling trail of excitement along his skin.

It was loud. So very loud.
So much so that [PROTAG] had half a mind to just grip the scissors in his hand as hard as he could, and stab it into his ears to simply end it all. It was all too much.
From the ringing in his ears to the angry and desperate banging that came from just outside the elevator doors and echoed along the walls of the claustrophobic prison they’ve been stuck in, (for hours..days..? He doesn’t even know anymore) he almost didn’t hear his [CO-WORKER] speak up from behind him.
“Wow.”

“Want a light?” [COLLEAGUE] said, accompanying it with a puff of smoke that he blew right into [PROTAG]’s face. When did he even light that-?
[PROTAG] coughed, the smoke infiltrating his lungs and making the air that hung around them more heavy than it already was.
“At this point, I don’t see why not,” he said, whispering, “Not like I’ll live to see the damage” at the end.

It'd taken so long for them to figure things out, the planning, days of work, everything. Now that everything was all coming together, June couldn't shake the feeling her time there would be riveting.
Or, that's what June had hoped it would be.

Summary
What if Manon had soundly broken up with Rody and didn't rebound with Vince?
Would interest have begun to develop between the two organically rather than Rody forcing himself through work for Manon while Vincent's interest in him was tempered by his desire to learn the secret to reacquiring taste?
Without the dark undercurrents and maybe with a little bit of empathy, could things be different for them? Vincent had his sweet moments afterall. And Rody could be kinder and more curious when Manon wasn't involved.
Maybe a solid foundation could have made all the difference for these two.
-This story will contain light violence and swearing as Vincent is a bit of a jerk at times, but the goal is to make a fluffy story. These two deserve it. Will contain NSFW content, just be aware that I intend for this to be a slow-ish burn just because I don't want to rush it. I'm basing the characters off of their in game info as well as info Rachel has given us over time outside of the game. Due to irl stuff, updates may be off and on but the plan is to update atleast once a week! I hope you enjoy the story-- Language:
