Summary
Sakusa Kiyoomi was a good son. He was supposed to graduate, work under his father’s company to make his family proud and be content by whichever woman he would be arranged to marry. Stability and peace - easy.
What he was not supposed to do was to breakdown from his carefully crafted mask and find himself at the doorstep of his cousin’s house. Far away from the comfort of his predictable future.
And he was surely not supposed to fall for the cocky guy with the warm smile that made his heart ache for the first time in his life.
A story about loss of self, searching for meaning and finding love when least expected.

It is mid December, the day has been a grey, rainy and foggy thing, and it’s been dark for hours even though it’s only seven p.m.
Temperatures have been dropping all week, and it’s just started snowing when there’s a quiet knock at the door.Kiyoomi almost trips over his own feet in his hurry to get to it, blanket still wrapped around him, his thick fuzzy socks slippery on the wooden floor.
His eyes widen in surprise when he opens the door. On the other side of the threshold stands Miya Atsumu, eyes red and puffy, only wearing a t-shirt and a thin jacket, shaking pathetically. He glances up at Kiyoomi and looks so miserable that his own heart breaks a little.
“Omi. I-” he tries, voice breaking. “Sorry, I didn’t know where else to go.”

Sakusa Kiyoomi loves his family. He does.
But sometimes he wishes he had another.
It’s a complicated thing: families. You can love them and they can treat you well and traditions form without realizing and you can miss them dearly when apart. Yet you can also get frustrated with them and they can say the wrong things over and over and they can ignore your feelings and you can wish they would get out of your space. But they’re family, so it all cancels out.
Kiyoomi loves his family. He loves laughing over childhood memories and playing card games with his siblings on holidays and baking with his grandma and playing dress up with his niece.
He wishes they would stop ridiculing his mysophobia and criticizing his career choices and asking about grandchildren when he’s made it clear he’s into men.
So Kiyoomi doesn’t really want to go home for Christmas.
Lucky for him, he has a wonderful boyfriend who invited him to come home with him instead.
or: Sakusa Kiyoomi doesn't want to go home for Christmas, so he finds himself spending time with the extended Miya family instead. And maybe even finds he likes it there.
