    Tommy pressed down on the keys, and a stream of melodies filled his ears. All the sounds played together to make a cord of music. That’s what he loved about piano. Each note played a part. You couldn’t play the song without all the notes, because each played an equal part in creating the whole.

     

    It didn’t matter that they didn’t care. It didn’t matter that they couldn’t look him in the eye. It didn’t. Right?

     

    He played the piece, hands shifting back and forth through the piano to press the keys.

     

    It didn’t matter that he barely remembered what his mother looked like and that no one cared to show him. It didn’t matter that Wilbur always yelled about having to take care of him. It didn’t matter that his own dad pointedly refused to go near him; that Techno basically hid from him. It didn’t matter.

    Or

    Tommy is a pianist that can no longer hear the notes that he plays, he searches to find his music again and finds a few friends along the way. Meanwhile, his family, figures out what they left behind.

    My Voice Wouldn't Sound the Same Without You by

    Walking through the park is always Tommy's favorite, but today something is different. Instead of the small picnic table that usually rests under a small rain cover sits a shiny new piano. It's beautifully made, warm colored wood that blends perfectly with the surrounding trees. Slowly Tommy walks up to it, gently touching it as if his dirty hands will ruin the fine wood.

    “Do you play?” Tubbo asks.

    “No not really” Tommy knows it's a lie, but sometimes lies are for the better.

    Tommy starts playing at a small communal piano not realizing that the man who songs he plays comes to watch him play every night.

    Dadbur tries to adopt another musician into the family.

    “I don’t believe you for a second,” the villager said with a scoff. “Reviving the dead? You, a god? That’s the most preposterous thing I’ve heard in all my years.”

    “Oh? You don’t believe me?” Dream smiled. “That’s okay, I’m more than willing to give you all a demonstration. Tommy,” he called, gesturing to the blond.

    Tommy knew exactly what was going to happen, and he knew that there was no point in resisting, for it’d be over quicker if he gave up and went along with it (and if he struggled he’d really just be making a fool of himself). So he walked over to Dream, quietly, obediently, and stood facing the crowd. At least his death would be quick this time, he thought, as he shut his eyes and felt the cool of metal against his neck. One slash, and the world went dark.

     

    Or: Tommy didn’t originally plan to hit the water when he jumped off the tower in Logsted, so he hit the ground instead. Dream decides that’s as good a time as any to test out the revival book, and upon succeeding, decides he’s a god and it’s high time he gained some followers.

    At sixteen years old, Tommy knew so many things.

    He knew that people were predictable and selfish. He knew not to trust, not to take, and not to get comfortable for too long. He knew that the concept of family was as fake as the highlights in his last foster mother's hair.

    Tommy had known for years that life was painful and had no extra love for some ratty foster kid like him. He knew that it was him and his copy of The Odyssey against the whole world. He knew that he only had to survive long enough to make it to his eighteenth birthday before he could escape.

    But when Tommy ends up fostered in the Watson household completely by chance, he finds that maybe he never knew anything in the first place.
