Nearly a year after the discovery of the permanence code, Eve Kim celebrates her fortieth birthday. Though she is the CEO of a successful company, and ENCOM is leading the way in making a great many wonderful advances in the world thanks to the legacy of her and her sister's work, she can't help but feel regret that she has no one to share it with. Or rather, she regrets that the one person she would want to share it with is still absent from her life.
