It was like a switch had been flipped in him. His limbs were moving of their own accord, and now that he’d started, he couldn’t stop. That tiny, human voice of reason in his head—perhaps the true version of him, whatever that meant—was drowned out by the rushing of blood in his ears. Instead it was replaced by a louder, hungrier voice. Hurt him. He deserves it. Hurt him like he hurt you. Vecna’s? Or his? He didn’t know the difference anymore.
Lately, Will has been feeling more disconnected from himself than ever. Angrier. When the party has a run-in with the jocks, who have defaced Eddie Munson's grave, Will finds that Vecna's influence is getting harder to keep under control.

Will jumped as a deafening bang erupted from the building, echoing through the surrounding trees. The sound was so sharp it made his ears ring.

Summary
For Will, this is pointless. He's been saved by music before, remembers humming to himself, curled in the tangled, knotted blankets that he had scavenged in another world, wishing for the horrors to stop. He knows, like the tingling in the back of his neck, that not even the powers of The Clash could save him now.
Still, he brings out the mixtape, the one Jonathan had made for him when the worst of his monsters was as human as the rest of them. The opening notes, the familiar strum of a guitar, should soothe him, but instead he just feels… twelve again, hiding away from creatures he couldn't face head-on, running from something he couldn't see.
He's still running from something he can't see. Worse, he's still hiding.

Summary
Will thinks he’s dreaming. Mike decides to think it’s because of Will’s fever, when the idea of his best friend being convinced it’s more likely that he’s imagining it than for Mike to touch him makes Mike’s stomach drop uncomfortably.
“Sleep, Will. I’m here, I’ll always be here.”
Mike takes advantage of the half-unconscious state his best friend is in and lets his heart spill just a little, just enough for a few drops of what he feels for the boy in his arms to drop and land on his tongue.
“Love you.”
Will mutters, right into Mike’s chest, right over his heart - making it stop beating for a few long moments, when Mike’s world drops on its axis.

Will is sick and confesses to Mike while out of his mind due to the fever. Mike has a breakdown about it.
