Summary
Soap is a PhD student, doing his research in Antarctica on the behaviors and hunting habits of leopard seals. During his expedition, he becomes obsessed with a leucistic seal, who he's taken to calling Ghost.
His attempts at tagging Ghost for tracking purposes have all failed, leaving Soap frustrated, but determined to try again. He won't stop until he gets the data he needs for his dissertation.
At the same time, Soap is stuck in an escalating, heated flirting match with a hydroponics employee at another base. It's foolish to form romantic relationships with someone he knows will vanish from his life once their expeditions are over, but there's something fascinating about this man that he can't ignore.

Summary
“Home sweet home.” Soap grins, elbowing the front door open. The air is a little stale, and there are still dust sheets covering most of the furniture, but there’s a warm light trickling through the windows, and a view out across the Cotswolds.
“I could’ve carried one of the bags, Johnny, I’m not a complete invalid.” Ghost sulked for most of the drive, tutted when Soap had needed to lean over to do his seatbelt for him.
“No, ye couldn’t.” Soap chides, dropping the two duffels in the hallways and rounding on Ghost to coax him into a hug. “Doctor’s orders, remember?”
“Fuck doctor’s orders.” Ghost grumbles, he won’t though, he’ll listen and obey and heal properly even if Soap has to tie him down and make him.

It’s a warm sunny day when the trailer pulls down the long dirt drive of the 141 ranch, rousing Soap from his sun bathing. Of course the curious cow goes to investigate and ends up seeing the largest bull he’s ever laid eyes on step off the trailer.

Summary
There's something to the way that Soap doesn't hesitate around him, the way the air has gone from stifling to tentative, the way Ghost almost appears receptive even though two minutes ago he was channeling his anger into something so explosive.
Price really does wonder how he's never managed to see it.

Summary
Simon was only alive because Johnny pulled him from the grave Ghost built around him. It wasn't until the laughing Scotsman was ripped away from him that Simon realized how easy it was to find comfort in the grave. Mostly because dead things don't hurt.
