Гепарду шли водолазки: Сампо скользнул взглядом по его шее, снова вернулся к красивому лицу — и пропал. Гепард что-то сказал, но писк в ушах не дал разобрать слов. Он впервые смотрел на Сампо без раздражения.
Сначала его почти сбило с ног осознание, что за время спектакля со Стеллароном он успел сильно соскучиться за их игрой в кошки-мышки. Затем до него дошло, что он скучал не за чувством адреналина, не за удовольствием, которое испытывал, когда ускользал от Гепарда и его миньонов, продолжая ломать комедию. Он скучал по его вниманию, по пронизывающему насквозь взгляду и недовольному лицу, светлым нахмуренным бровям. Сампо чувствовал, как время превращалось в сладкую патоку, и как она же пеленала его сердце, стекая по горлу и расходясь по венам. Он впервые за много лет болезненно ощутил, как покрываются румянцем его щёки и уши.
Чёрт.
Или: история о Сампо Коски и его громадной, мучительной и позорной влюбленности в простого смертного — Капитана Гепарда Ландау.

Okay, so he's not dead. That's good. But what's this about him being stuck playing the character Tartaglia? Tartaglia, as in the no-good, one-dimensional, cartoonish villain who met his untimely, gruesome death in the first act of the original game?
