“You have to come here right now,” she hissed the second Van picked up.
“Hello to you, too, Nat.” A pause, then: “Why?”
“Jackie is in my apartment.”
“Huh? What are you talking about?”
“Jackie. Jackie Taylor. In my kitchen. Making actual eggs:”
“Like…fried?”
“Like whisked. In a bowl. There’s salt involved, Van.”
There was a pause. Then the dry scrape of Van’s voice: “Yeah. The Jackie that we ate and then shat out is making eggs in your kitchen, sure.”

Or, Nat copes with her trauma through journaling, a suggestion from her mandated therapy. But instead of writing about the wilderness, her thoughts spiral back to Jackie– what could have been if the crash never happened and if Jackie were still alive. It starts as harmless fiction. Healing, even. Until Jackie shows up in her apartment, alive and seemingly pulled straight from the pages Nat had been writing. Inspired by the movie, Ruby Sparks.

In the world of Freaks, Outcasts and those declared monsters, there are families that don’t just survive in their mess of crazy but instead thrive, you know of the Addams, but there is another, The Lanes, having amassed a fortune in minerals and medicine, Felicia and Connol Lanes with their brothers had become the Addams of The West Coast, their youngest, Jinx Lanes, an Impulse Outsider and a terror, but that terror has made her an issue that unfortunately Normie society cannot contain her, so they had to resort to their alma mater, hopefully she and the other transfer don’t burn it down.

Selene was never meant to survive the council bombing, but she did, and nothing has felt right since. In the ruins of what was, she follows her brother Viktor deep into Zaun, where he builds a commune meant to offer safety and a chance to start over.
For a while, it almost works, but everything changes when Vi, Isha, and Jinx arrive asking for help to save what remains of Vander.
As tensions rise and old wounds resurface, Selene is forced to confront her feelings. Nothing is simple when grief, guilt, and family are tangled together. Especially when the person she is supposed to hate, might be the only one who truly sees her.
