Summary
[Sequel of Promise of The Wishing Well. Please read that one first, or else there will be details that are confusing.]
With the Yokai's original leader gone, Mizuki finds himself leading the Yokai in Kanezaka, with Wuyang by his side as always. Their journey together has been perilous, but they won't give up, not on each other and not on Kanezaka. Mizuki is guided only by one goal: defeat the Hashimoto.
But what happens when one goal expands to two or three? What happens when Null Sector comes out of the dark to wreck havoc again? And what happens when something sinister reforms, rising up from the dead?

Summary
Mizuki Kawano has been unlucky his entire life, from the moment he was a small child. His grandparents died of unnatural causes and his mother died in a suspicious drowning. His father later tragically perished too, leaving behind nine year old Mizuki Kawano, after getting himself into debt with the Hashimoto clan.
Mizuki does not know of freedom, but when a surprise encounter during a Talon mission catches him off guard, Mizuki finds himself straying a new and dangerous path. Will Mizuki be able to free himself of his family curse, or will straying from the Hashimoto be the final nail in his coffin?
Note: Mizuyang is the primary ship here but there's other ships mentioned.

"How many layers do you think we should do?" Anran asked Wuyang, "Like two layers of cake and two layers of frosting?"
"Oh no, don't do that," Brigitte chimed in.
"Huh? Why not?"
"You'd have four total layers then, and Mizuki insists that four is an unlucky number. You know how superstitious he is," Brigitte explained, "He'd definitely freak out if the cake had four layers."
"Three layers of cake then!" Wuyang decided.
OR
Mizuki woke up thinking his birthday was going to be a terrible day. Wuyang remedies that.

—————————"H‐Hey... take it easy," The man helping him, for some reason, says, "You're going to hurt yourself."
Mizuki laughs. Why this random man gives a damn makes no sense to him. He knows he's a bad person. Mizuki regrets it though, gasping and writhing in pain because existence has become excruciating. Still, he finds it within himself to vocalize his confusion, somehow, "Why... do you care?"
"Because you're hurt," He frowns. Only now has Mizuki realized just how good this stranger looks, short but muscular, with long black hair tied back into a bun, and a comfortable warm cheerfulness exuding from him through his hesistant smile, as though he was somehow untainted by the horrors of the universe.
OR
Hashimoto doesn't believe Mizuki is trying hard enough, and does away with him, intending to discard him like trash. Wuyang is the one to find him, barely breathing, barely alive.
