Summary
By all measures, Mike is a good alpha. He checks all the boxes, really. Protective without being overbearing, quick to step in when someone’s in trouble, careful but not patronizing. He’s loud and boisterous, sure, but he’s also earnest, and sweet, and so goddamn chivalrous it’s stupid.
It’s all so horribly infuriating, and so infuriatingly endearing.
That’s the thing about instincts. They make everything so confusing. Will knows, rationally, that all of these things are just Mike’s way of being a good friend and packmate. And yet, there’s still a part of him—a decidedly omega part—that relishes in the attention in a way he knows he shouldn’t.
Navigating teenage relationships is hard enough. It's even harder when instincts get involved.

Summary
Logically, Mike knows what he’s doing is weird. Somewhere, deep in the back of his mind he knows it. Still, he tells himself that it’s normal. That he is normal. That stealing a box of his best friend’s clothes labeled ‘donate’ in black marker and keeping it firmly hidden in the back of his closet was something any normal person would do. It wasn’t weird, anyone else would do the same!
And who could blame him? Mike has been surrounded by Will for as long as he can remember. They’re close! Mike cares about Will, always has. The urge to protect him, to take care of him, was so instinctual even before Mike had presented as an alpha. They were a pair, always together, attached at the hip until… well, until recently but Mike was going to work on that! He really was!
And now the Byers have moved to Lenora. To fucking California and Mike feels like he’s lost a limb

Robin leaned closer, voice gentle. “All I’m saying is, it’s okay to like him. And it’s also extremely, painfully obvious.”
Will froze. “…to who?”
Robin’s grin stretched slow and wicked. “Only to me. Because I understand. He doesn’t know, don’t worry. Because that boy? Dense. Like, heroically dense. Historically dense. Scientists are going to study him.”
Will huffed, cheeks burning. Will’s eyes darted involuntarily to the centre of the room. Max and El were squished together on an armchair. Mike was sprawled on the carpet with Dustin and Lucas, waving his arms around dramatically as he argued about which Star Wars film was objectively the best. His hair was a mess. His cheeks were flushed. He was smiling.
And Will felt that stupid expanding warmth in his chest that he couldn’t get rid of no matter how hard he tried.

Post-Vecna, Will and Robin continue to bond. Robin knows Will likes Mike. Mike thinks Will likes Robin.
One jealousy spiral, several misunderstandings, and a lot of pining later… they finally kiss.
