Silence swells in the room and Riley can feel her pulse pound under her jaw.
“And that’s it? You don’t have anything else to say about it?” He asks, his tone flat.
“I don’t know what you want me to say, Mac,” She says. He scoffs, turning away from her. “I’m sorry,” She murmurs.
He whips around, his eyes piercing her. “You’re sorry?” The bitterness in his voice hits her full force and she looks away. “You decide to leave the Phoenix, to leave me, and you’re just sorry?”
