Mac shifted, rolling partly over onto his side, catching and hugging a pillow to his chest. He looked vulnerable and harmless, but Nikki knew he was far from the latter. If she simply left now he’d probably sleep for another few hours, but she needed more time than that. She couldn’t have him and Jack on her ass, not for a while at least.
She watched Mac breathe for a moment while she thought. His shoulder gently rising and falling with each slow breath, his cheek mushed against his pillow, his mouth slightly parted but not quite snoring. He’d always been a quiet sleeper, something she’d appreciated about him through their relationship.
She considered killing him.

I'm unhinged, I got glandular fever, I had to write a thesis proposal, and I'm addicted to DnD character builds so I made this high off a 40 degree centigrade fever.
The Phoenix team and Murdoc are dragged through a rift into a gothic themed DnD game. The first complication is that Mac and Murdoc land somewhere completely different to Jack, Riley, and Bozer. The second complication is that Murdoc's a warlock, and his patron is listed as one Angus Macgyver.

They're on their own. No Phoenix backing, no official op clearance, and no resources beyond what they can cobble together themselves. On top of all that, they're left trying to hold together a civilian lie in front of some of the best living lie-detectors in the world: profilers.

Mac was not unfamiliar with explosions. In fact, out of everyone he knew, he would be the most well acquainted with explosions, implosions, ruptures, and spontaneous combustions of all kinds. Besides maybe Jack. He’d been everywhere from the delicate intricacies of a nuclear weapon to the business end of a dirty IED. Most days, he wouldn’t even break a sweat in the face of a digital red countdown. MacGyver was not unfamiliar with explosions, but he was very much still human. And the very essence of humans and explosions combining sometimes boiled down to the simplest of conclusions. Run.
Or, Mac has a long road ahead of him in recovery after an explosion. When his injury takes more from him than he could have ever imagined, will he be able to put the pieces back together?

Riley’s gaze was still held in his and she thought briefly she should feel flustered that he knew her so well and yet couldn’t help but smile a bit, a different warmth spreading through her.

Everybody wants a family. Whether it be a want seeded from the warm clasp of youth or a wretched winter flower that grew in spite of it, it was hard to escape the idea. For people in Angus MacGyver's position, however, that's a bad idea. Every day, a new set of people threatened both his and his friends lives, not to mention the hectic working hour. But that didn't take away the want.
Luckily, he loves bad ideas.
Except, this- this handsome faced, wild eyed beast of a man who wanted to see Mac bloodied and cooling- might be his best idea yet. At least, that's what his subconscious thinks, and the more they interact, the more Mac agrees. Now, all he has to do it convince him of that.

Jack had told Mac once, both of their backs against the sun warmed headstone facing Dalton Sr.’s grave, that losing his father had knocked the world off its axis. He’d then hastily clarified that he knew it hadn’t actually, that it had just felt like it had. He’d been trying to preempt some expected response from Mac, a ‘well that’s physically impossible Jack’ or ‘that would require an impact that would cause immediate mass extinction across the globe, thus making it feel like absolutely nothing’. With Jack’s shoulder against his, and a Dalton gravestone facing them, Mac let himself be uncomfortable, posing a tentative, open-ended, question instead.
Jack had a familiar, easy smile when he’d replied.
It’s being knocked off balance and never quite regaining it.Or, Jack dies and Mac's world spins right out from under his feet.
