“Do you have a thermometer anywhere in this house?” Mac asked with a slightly aggrieved tone.
“Can’tcha just whip one up?”
“I’d have to get the mercury from something. Do you have float valves?”
“No.”
“Tooth fillings?”
“Not yet, take a few more punches to the face and I might.”
“A liquid mirror telescope?”
“To look at what? Smog?”
“A barometer?”
“Isn’t that what you’re trynna make?”
Mac paused, opened his mouth, and then saw Jack’s shit-eating grin and realized his partner was just screwing with him.
“Then no.” Mac huffed, looking back down at his report. “I can’t ‘whip you up’ a thermometer.”
“Shame.” Jack turned back to the TV. He didn’t sound particularly bothered.
Mac drummed his pen against the couch, the sound muffled. “…but you feel alright?”
Jack paused the movie this time, and the sudden absence of the action-movie chaotic soundtrack was blunt. Jack twisted to angle towards Mac fully, bracing his elbows on his knees and giving Mac both his full attention and a tolerant but slightly bewildered smile.
“I’m ok, Mac.” Jack reiterated slowly and warmly. “I appreciate the concern, but it’s just a cold. It’s not gonna kill me.” -

Everybody wants a family. Whether it be a want seeded from the warm clasp of youth or a wretched winter flower that grew in spite of it, it was hard to escape the idea. For people in Angus MacGyver's position, however, that's a bad idea. Every day, a new set of people threatened both his and his friends lives, not to mention the hectic working hour. But that didn't take away the want.
Luckily, he loves bad ideas.
Except, this- this handsome faced, wild eyed beast of a man who wanted to see Mac bloodied and cooling- might be his best idea yet. At least, that's what his subconscious thinks, and the more they interact, the more Mac agrees. Now, all he has to do it convince him of that.

Jack saw him for the first time by total accident. At first glance the ears had looked like a coyote in the low sun and he had almost grabbed his gun, ready to scare the canine, so it wouldn’t get to his chickens - however, a second later, the coyote got on its hind legs and…
It had hands. Coyotes didn’t have hands the last time Jack checked.That was when Jack had realised that it wasn’t a coyote close to the house, but a freaking hybrid.
A canine hybrid who, for a lack of a better word, looked like a complete mess. Hair sticking everywhere, clothes torn, feet bare, face dirty with a patchy looking beard.
Despite the hybrid's trespassing and rummaging around on his property, Jack felt nothing but pity. Why was it out there? If he spotted correctly, there was no collar around its neck and from the state of it, it looked like it hadn’t had a bath for a good while. -

Mac regained consciousness, fuzzy and disorientated. His joints ached when he tried to move them, still in the position they were contorted into by the ropes that dug into his skin. He knelt on cold, hard concrete; a numb chill shook his bones. He wasn’t entirely sure how long these men had had him; the days were fading into the monotonous cycle of drugged sleep and pain.
