Summary
Bucky remembers dying, the snap, the dust, the silence that devoured even his name. He remembers the void: endless, weightless, merciless. No time. No body. No breath. Only the ache of existing nowhere at all.
And then, light. A heartbeat. The drag of air into lungs that shouldn’t exist.
Bucky wakes where he vanished: the same field in Wakanda, the same sun bleeding through the trees, but five years later. The world is too alive, too sharp, and something inside him won’t stop echoing. Another pulse beneath his skin. Another soul breathing with his own.
Then he sees him.
Zemo. Seated on a fallen tree, his prison uniform stark against the green, reading as if none of it were strange. Their eyes meet, and the air shivers between them.
