“Victor,” He turned to Henry. His eyes were trained on him, yet they didn’t seem fully aware. “what would you do if it turned out that God was never real?”
Suddenly it seemed as if he had Victor’s attention.
“What? That sounds like a rather blasphemous question.”
Victor hesitated as Henry kept his expectant expression. He cleared his throat.
“Well… I would certainly regret a number of wasted Sundays that could’ve been spent in study. However… they would likely have been replaced with more snobbish parties I’d have to attend in my father’s stead.” He spoke in an almost exasperated tone.
After reuniting in Strasbourg for their trip, Henry attempts to cheer Victor up.
