    The Culling War is over, and Thanatos is not the same.
    Mariano doesn't have a same to go back to.
    Bastian just hopes that he won't have to kill Thanatos when the vampire's ravenous hunger finally takes over.
    It's been far too long since Thanatos has had a good meal, after all, and he loves getting himself in hot water.

     

    Paranoid due to post-traumatic stress, Thanatos has “retired” to a quiet world to put himself back together. Having found solace in the companionship of a war mage and his dragon, he starts to hope that he won’t have to run anymore.
    Of course, life always has a way of kicking a man when he's down. Targeted by hunters, he finds himself injured and starving. Mariano is all that stands between him and feral madness, but Thanatos can’t help but wonder if it’s more than the mage’s blood that he’s been craving. Can a shattered wreck of a man find acceptance in the arms of a friend?
