“Agent Raven, huh?” Marius gazes at Luke, completely setting aside the tablet Austin had given him earlier. Marius concentrates on Luke directly instead, sizing him up himself, and Luke is used to being looked at like this. Questions from the get go. Are you the weapon I need? Are you the protector who will keep me safe? Are you really the best one they’ve got? “You don’t strike me as one.”
Luke is taken aback. “What do you mean?”
“Means I see you more as a puppy, actually,” Marius smirks.
“I assure you—” Luke eye twitches. “—that I can protect you much better than that.”
“Oh, puppy’s got teeth,” Marius’ grin is downright delighted now.
This is going to be one very long month...
