The year is 2852 (CR Standard calendar).
A Non-Corporate polity dating back to the Colonial Authority era is fighting off a hostile takeover from The Conglomerate, an alliance of mining interests and indenture companies spurred on by the recent discovery of strange synthetics below the equatorial megacity of New Mombasa.
They are losing.
The Conglomerate has killed tens of thousands and indentured millions already on their takeover of the system, Solterra is the last bastion of resistance - and their end goal.
You are a SecUnit assigned to squad Alpha Nine, a rapid-response unit of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers - bond company mercenaries hired by the planetary government to counter The Conglomerate's takeover and recover valuable intelligence.
This is a near-suicidal mission, but you and your squadmates are the best-of-the-best.
Prepare to drop, feet first into hell.

Summary
The Spartan III's of Gamma Company are a bunch of misfits. Barely high-school age, built for a war that ended just as they were entering service, and immediately made obsolete by the Spartan-IV program, the UNSC's Office of Naval Intelligence had no clue what to do with 300 walking Public Relations nightmares until, through Terrence Hood's attempts to thwart ONI in favor of peace with the Sangheili, he inadvertently gives them an out in the form of the ANVIL initiative.
This story follows Caine-G286, a fairly average Gamma company Spartan on his journey to re-integrate into larger society, while he inadvertently catches The Feelings™ for his Ussan Sangheili battle-buddy.
AKA a barely-human weapon of war with ALL of the mental illnesses is now roommates with a guy who barely knows what a human is

Summary
Kukri kept sending me media about “Robbing the Hood” and telling me to watch it, that I’d understand what was going on better if I did, but I had no interest in watching people rob Hoods, whatever those were. I didn’t like robbing in real life (I did it because I had to not because I wanted to) and I doubted I’d like it in media.
Shortly after hacking its governor module, a rogue SecUnit is involved in an ill-fated space battle and finds itself alone save for the company of a mourning raider ship bot pilot. It would like to spend the rest of its life watching media in what remains of the ship's crew quarters, but it turns out that "the rest of its life" wouldn't be long at all without the money to pay for proper maintenance. There seems to be only one way to get that money.
