Summary
They all hear the spray of gunfire. Regulus screams- or maybe it is Sirius, or maybe it’s both of them. Sirius lunges out of his seat, pressing his face to the glass. He watches Walburga crumple to the ground. He watches his mother- usually so controlled and neat- collapse, as if she has fallen from the height of a swing. Sirius stares for a second, frozen.
She does not move.
“Mother?” he calls quietly, unsure. She is not moving, and Sirius realises abruptly that maybe she is dead. He screams then, “Mama!” and finally Orion moves from the entrance of the plane. He reaches an arm in and presses a button- Sirius is not sure what- but the engine of the plane stutters to life.
“Strap yourself and your brother in Sirius.” Orion tells him in a controlled voice, before he turns and runs.
Sirius chokes in a breath but does as he is told.

Summary
Marlene giggles.
She fucking giggles.
Dorcas stares at her, feeling jolted again, though not necessarily in a bad way. The very sound is an oddly pleasant dissonance. So many elements of Marlene do not make sense- a soldier general, fighting for love, but who is soft enough to giggle like that. She doesn’t even have the self-control to do anything but listen to the sound until Marlene speaks again.

“Did anything happen with Lily?” Pandora asks her after a second, and Petunia can hear the carefulness in her voice.
“No,” Petunia whispers.
“Did Vernon try to message you?” Pandora tried. “If he has, I will not hesitate to find him and drop his phone out of a window.”
Petunia laughs, and even that feels shaky.
“It’s not anyone. I just…” Petunia pauses, trying to find the words. “I feel like everything is a little faded today? Like I'm feeling things through a screen.”

“That… was not a great shot.”
“I’m distracted,” Petunia tells her, glancing over at her. It really doesn’t make sense that a girl can look so pretty. Pandora looks almost like a fairy.
“Distracted by what?” Pandora asks her playfully, and Petunia blushes again. She can’t believe that she said that.
“Er… nothing really,” she mumbles as she picks up her last dart. Pandora grins at her, almost shark-like, and somehow looks pretty while doing it.
“Come on, you can make this shot.” Her grin becomes even wider, and she adds, “I won’t be distracting!”
