Once upon a time, a Boy met Girl, and the Girl met Boy, and a tall glass of beer met the Boy’s shirt. If you think there is nothing new about this story, you would be correct. It is, in many ways, as cliche as things get. The boy could quote dead philosophers for hours, and the girl could name every muscle and bone in your body, and they, as boys and girls do in these particular stories, fell in love. And in many ways, they worked on many levels - friends, partners, lovers, spouses, parents. And I promise you, at many many times in their mutual lives they had very passionate mind-numbing sexual intercourse. This is just not one of these times. Kinda.

Summary
In the aftermath of the novel, the Lan elders cite an old Confucian rule in refusing to acknowledge the unwitnessed marriage between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji: it is inappropriate, they say, for a younger brother to marry before the elder.
In the face of mounting attempts to drive Wei Wuxian from the Cloud Recesses, and rampant infighting for the position of Jin sect leadership, Jiang Cheng proposes marriage to Lan Xichen. The marriage, he says, will cement their allyship and bring stability to the crumbling coalition of the Great Sects.
Unfortunately, the new couple just do not get along.
Xicheng enter a marriage of convenience. After much strife, they agree to try anew. Eight years pass in peaceful co-existence, but they eventually capitulate to requests from elders to annul the marriage and beget heirs. However, they soon realize that it's not so easy to put eight years of marriage behind them. Falling repeatedly into bed together, they begin to navigate a shameful, secret relationship.

Summary
Good things didn’t usually come falling right into Jiang Cheng’s lap. But, by some miracle, Lan Huan did (well, Lan Huan fell, and into the river, not his lap, but that was just semantics, shut up). He was here now and, gods be generous, Jiang Cheng was going to be greedy.
He was determined to do anything — pay any price, make any sacrifice — to ensure that he got to keep this Good Thing they had going in his otherwise shitty-ass life for as long as he could.
Or: Lan XiChen teaches Jiang Cheng a lesson on the un-transactional nature of offering and of receiving love. Through the timeless power of healing sex. Yeah. It sounded cooler in his head.

Summary
Jiang Cheng, resident Angry Guy and heir to a conglomerate empire, has never been the apple of his father’s eye. Somewhere in the glare of the stage lights and an unexpected first love, Jiang Cheng stumbles upon the thing he was searching for all along: the courage to dream — and to attempt the impossible.

Summary
Where the Five Great Sects were the Three Empires and Two Kingdoms, Jiang Cheng lost his core and found out about his shixiong's idiotic scheme to replace it.
He put a stop to it, accepted a marriage offer from Gusu Empire, and prepared himself to marry the fuddy-duddy prince he suspected his shixiong was crushing on.
Little did he know that he was meant for the emperor instead; the emperor, who according to the rumours, had already married his soulmate.
