Summary
Starcourt Mall was big, but not so large that those who worked within its walls didn't get to know the other stores and their employees.
Robin and Eddie had been friends from high school, and the kids seemed to have taken a real shine to the guy. Steve however knew him as the guy hogging his favourite smoking spot out the back. When their shared friendships force the two to get closer, they realise the pair have more in common than they originally thought.
Until Steve appears with a busted up face covered in his own blood- then suddenly their unconventional friendship is shattered seemingly beyond repair.
When they met again in Reefer Ricks, will the two be able to work past their messy history to stop Vecna from killing again? Steve's sudden headaches might have something to say about that.

Of course he fell straight into Bucky’s lap, grinning as he quipped, “You falling for me, Bambi?”
Which led to a very embarrassed Tony rushing an apology and totally not running to his room to forget this whole affair. It wouldn’t happen again and Bucky would forget by morning, he thought.Wishful thinking was all that turned out to be.

Steve stares at the receiver in his hand for what feels like an eternity, as if he wills it hard enough it'll ring again and she'll say all the things he wants her to.
It doesn't, of course. It stays still and silent in his hand. In the other room he hears an uproar of laughter and he just...can't. Can't go through there and face them and pretend that everything is okay. Can't lie to their faces and laugh along with whatever has them all in stitches like that.
So he doesn't. Instead, he goes to the back door and out to the yard, where he collapses to sit with his back against the wall of the house and his knees up to his chest. He doesn't even cry, not that he doesn't want to. He just stares straight ahead, biting the skin around his thumb, until he loses track of how long he's been there. He doesn't even hear the back door open again, doesn't realize anybody has come looking for him until Eddie is sitting on the ground beside him looking deeply concerned.
"Steve? You okay, dude?"
Or: Eddie offers Steve comfort after a phone call almost ruins his birthday.
