She’d been too precious to keep, too pure to spoil, and so he’d tossed her back on the beach and walked out into the ocean to drown in his stupid feelings. Passed her off to Sora like a bought bride, and then tried to pretend he wasn’t doing it. Thought he could pretend, right to her face, that he could keep his promise and keep his distance at the same time, and that it was all for their sake.
In which Riku suffers through life in the doghouse, Sora racks up boyfriend points, and Kairi feels conflicted. And everyone loses their v-cards together!

Summary
Gale shifts in a way that looks like an attempt at a shrug, but then makes another alarmed noise when the vines shift around him in response.
“Fuck,” says Astarion, and then “Fuck,” and then, “Well. Let’s just try, and then. Ah. If it doesn’t work… we’ll try something else.”
He pulls out his dagger, and Gale makes another little abortive noise. Oh, he supposes it is rather large, isn’t it. All the better to stab people. Less useful for precision Gale extraction.
“Look, it’s this or an even bigger knife,” Astarion says, with only the faintest sliver of contrition. He sighs. “You know I know my way around a blade, Gale. You’re just going to have to trust me.”

Summary
A wizard’s magic, of course, offered the most variety: a textbook charm, as taught to young enchantment students, had a taste of saccharine sweetness to it that smoothed the edges of the mind like cough syrup. Actively resisting an experienced wizard’s Dominate Person could spur a pain so bone-deep it was nauseating; surrender, by comparison, was a glorious narcotic that slowed the conscious mind to a languid docility in service of the caster’s will.
But it wasn't enchantment magic, this.

Summary
Mizora had made a big show of transforming Wyll. Of course she had. Mizora was one of the nastiest devils Karlach had the misfortune of meeting, and she was a cambion to boot, so she also had a complex. The past several years apparently had been taking out that complex on Wyll. So of course there was an evil black pit that consumed Wyll before turning him into a devil. It had to be performative or what was the point. Like Zariel would give Mizora a pat on the head and tell her she was a real special devil or something. Ugh.
But after the evil dark pit and Mizora’s departure, it had seemed at the time that that was that.

On the road at last to Baldur's Gate, finding themselves ambushed by wizards who want to kidnap Astarion and return him to Cazador, Gale does the only thing he can think of in that moment to keep Astarion and the others safe.
He challenges them to a wizard's duel.
Astarion, for his part, has never seen Gale look quite so... dangerous. He likes it.
