Summary
The year is 1954. The discovery of abiogenesis, DNA and the double helix have made massive waves in the fields of biology and chemistry. Erik and Charles meet as young men attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, initially opposing one another on the Mutatis Mutandis panels.
Erik is an ex-Sonderkommando and Haganah veteran who fled to the USA after defecting at Sinai, versus Charles - a too-privileged-for-his-own-good trust-fund nepo baby with more depth and complexity than the former could ever truly comprehend. Raven is a "private investigator" in polite company, and a mercenary to everyone else. The CIA shows up to ruin everyone's day.
All of their lives are forever altered by these intersections. Lots of bickering, trauma, and yes, the overwhelming power of love. Follows Erik and Charles as they establish the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youth, and over time develop disparate views as Erik grows increasingly radical in his pursuit for mutant safety and Charles suffers a devastating injury at the behest of Sebastian Shaw.

Summary
Erik Lehnsherr makes a foray into the life he thought he had left behind him long ago and accepts a job as a hired submissive for a wealthy man looking for something he can't seem to get on his own. Charles, it turns out, isn't awful, but if his past offers any sort of indicator for what's to come, Erik can't be entirely sure.

He would never see him again. Never feel the familiar touch of his mind against his own. Never watch the determined lines across his face as he chose his next chess move. Never see the way his gaze would flicker from the chess pieces to him when he thought Charles wasn’t looking. Never again. Charles was going to die while Erik was halfway across the world. He wondered if Erik would feel it somehow. Was it selfish of him to hope that Erik would feel the loss all the way in Genosha? At least that way Erik would be linked with him in the end, despite the distance.
He felt his pounding heartbeat begin to stagger, and he knew this must be it. Charles began to close his eyes as he heard the sound of someone running, and then the world was darkness and he knew no more. His last thought was of Erik, unknowingly going about his day in Genosha. Unaware that thousands of miles away, Charles was leaving him behind.
(This fic takes place a couple of months after X-Men: Apocalypse and is pretty much canon compliant up until then except for Charles didn't lose his hair fighting Apocalypse because that was stupid. Also, the reconstruction of the school took longer in this fic because good quality construction takes time)
