Summary
He would never see him again. Never feel the familiar touch of his mind against his own. Never watch the determined lines across his face as he chose his next chess move. Never see the way his gaze would flicker from the chess pieces to him when he thought Charles wasn’t looking. Never again. Charles was going to die while Erik was halfway across the world. He wondered if Erik would feel it somehow. Was it selfish of him to hope that Erik would feel the loss all the way in Genosha? At least that way Erik would be linked with him in the end, despite the distance.
He felt his pounding heartbeat begin to stagger, and he knew this must be it. Charles began to close his eyes as he heard the sound of someone running, and then the world was darkness and he knew no more. His last thought was of Erik, unknowingly going about his day in Genosha. Unaware that thousands of miles away, Charles was leaving him behind.
(This fic takes place a couple of months after X-Men: Apocalypse and is pretty much canon compliant up until then except for Charles didn't lose his hair fighting Apocalypse because that was stupid. Also, the reconstruction of the school took longer in this fic because good quality construction takes time)

Summary
On a peninsula called Genosha, there were four countries existing co-operatively.
The youngest of the four rulers, King Erik, suffered the shame of not manifesting his expected hereditary power of magnetism and metallokinesis, a disadvantage in a country of skilled and vicious warriorship. The curse that bound his powers could be broken with love, but Erik could not remember a time when he didn’t love the Crown Prince of Corazon, Charles Xavier. He and Charles were both sole heirs; their duty to reproduce should outweigh personal desire, both for each other and for relief from the curses that pained them.
Charles was telepathic. His country however, shunned magic, put all their faith in religion and science. So he hid his gifts and he resigned himself to the loneliness of secrets kept and a loveless marriage.
The King and the Prince had choices to make and, with each of their options bound to hurt someone, it seemed their own wishes must give way to the greater good.

As Charles tries to figure out how to survive and stay at school that he can no longer afford and makes a lot of bad if not plain dangerous choices, Erik has to fight his own battle of discovering the truth and winning Charles back.

In which Erik decides to stay after the Cuba incident, and Charles is learning to cope with the aftermath. Healing ensues with plenty hurt/comfort and angst. In-progress.
