Summary
Steve has a non-sexual praise kink.
He's too used to dwelling on every one of his failures, on each and every way he's not good enough - that he was always so sick and tiny and worthless, that he'd let Bucky fall, that he hadn't been able to stand up to his father when his mother was being yelled at (or worse), that he wasn't the man Erskine saw in him, that he wasn't the hero the world needs.
After all of that, he can't help but melt when someone goes out of their way to prove him wrong about how he sees himself, whenever someone sees good in him. Sometimes, he even thinks he can believe it.
