She remembered the way Pepper had held her face, carefully applying the eyeshadow on her eyes, softly telling her what to do. Her heart fluttered at how close they were and Pepper’s concentrated face as she smiled, applying her mascara. When she looked at herself in the mirror, Pepper had called her pretty. She felt beautiful– a feeling she never thought she’d be able to experience, and now that she has, she hated letting go of it. She wanted to feel that pretty again.

“I’m gonna miss you,” Lightbulb confesses. Her voice is so quiet that Paintbrush almost misses it.
They coo empathetically, rubbing her shoulder with a faint sense of awkwardness. The two of them had just gotten out of quite a big fight—courtesy of Paintbrush, because when isn’t it, right?—and now Lightbulb was sad they were going and that was all their fault too.
God, how long would it take for Paintbrush to stop messing up?
“Don’t be sad,” Paintbrush whispers. “It’s not like I was the best teammate anyway. Hell, I wasn’t even that good of a friend.”

MePhone steered their attention to the rotary phones on each desk. “On each table you will see a rotary phone. You will all have two minutes to call one person from the outside world. No more, no less. I don't bargain. Or maybe I do, who's to say?” MePhone shrugged innocently before opening a stopwatch application on… himself. “Any questions?”
Paintbrush raised their hand. “Yeah, can we—”
“Set, ready, go!”
Paintbrush lowered their hand. “Every time!”
OJ studied at the rotary phone on top of the table. It didn't appear to be the most modern gadget, but it could probably get the job done. Most people would probably rack their brains for a few precious seconds figuring out which person they would choose to call before being disconnected indefinitely. But not OJ—he knew exactly who he needed to call. He took a deep breath and punched in the number.
