    Grace knew that Leon Kennedy was consulting for the FBI. She just didn’t really know it until she saw him walk right by her desk like it was nothing.

    “Leon Kennedy, right?” Her stupid mouth had blurted out before she could stop it.

    Honestly, she'd hoped it had just been a particularly loud thought, but then Leon's departing figure stopped in its tracks and she swore internally.

    He turned around slowly, methodically. Eyes scanning the perimeter for any potential threats while looking for the source of the voice. Does he always act as though he's in an active combat situation? Grace had seen that before, in war veterans and those who've spent too much time in combat. What has this man been through?

    Finally, his eyes met hers. His gaze was so intense, she felt like she was a piece of parchment held up close against a flame- so hot she was close to burning, at risk of bursting into flames at any moment.
