Erebor is ash, its people dispersed across the Verse. The Alliance has become weak, and more and more planets fall to the Orcs whilst they look away.
Thorin has a crew, but no ship. A kingdom, but no key. And a destination, but no idea how to get there without being eaten by Orcs or busted by the Alliance.
Things ain't exactly going smooth.

Summary
As Middle-Earth arms herself against the growing threat of Sauron, the remaining three dwarven rings of power fall into Erebor's possession. Ageing and cynical, Thorin longs to restore Erebor to her former glory. Kili is desperate to delay his death and live out his days with his immortal wife. Fili, disabled from his fall on Ravenhill, will do anything it takes to walk again and be the strong prince and heir that Erebor deserves. Against the judgement of their allies, they take the rings. Allegiances are pushed to breaking point, families turn on one another, and the enduring will of dwarves is tested further than ever before as darkness threatens to destroy Erebor both inside and out.
