Well, Stone has never been a quitter and what begins as a war of attrition over some HR forms slowly morphs into a functional(?) working relationship and the beginnings of a deeply unprofessional crush on his boss. That is, right up until the government comes up with a plan B to get rid of them both.

This may be one of, if not my #1, absolute favorite fics i have ever laid my eyes upon. I'm gonna bind this literature like it's holy and place it on my shelf amongst published novels and textbooks as a physical embodiment of how much i value this story. <3

The fact that she hadn’t had to ask for it previously— that somehow the opportunity had just plopped itself into her lap— certainly wasn’t helping, either. It had taken her over a week just to summon up the courage to ask to speak to him; Pomni wasn’t even sure she’d be able to ask for what she really wanted when the time finally came.
