“But I’m a person, not a snake. How come we can talk?”
“Snakes consider themselves people, Harrypotter, just as humans, scruffy or not, do, and you will do well to remember as such.” the snake rebuked.
Harry curled inwards on himself a little. It seemed the awful manners Aunt Petunia was always berating him for stretched to conversations with snakes too. “Oh. Sorry. I… I guess that makes sense.”
“Apology accepted.” The snake’s hissing tone seemed to soften. “Even rude, scruffy humans must ask questions, I suppose.”
Harry frowned. There wouldn’t be many other snakes to talk to, would there? “How long have you been here?”
“I am uncertain. I believe it to be several moons. I have escaped my previous prisons with relative ease, but have yet to find a way out of this boring box.”
Harry felt a pang of sympathy - he knew what it was like to be trapped.
“Regardless, you are not a snake, for no snake would have such a weak jaw.” the Boomslang hissed, seemingly amused. “You, Harrypotter, are a Parselmouth.”Or: Harry befriends a snake before Hogwarts, and then The Plot Starts

“Senator, or Ceo?” Is what Fox finally lands on. Figuring it either has to be a person with political clout or a metric kriff-ton of credits. Someone who can make the Guard’s lives a living hell if they just let them rot in the drunk tank for a while.
The Shiny shakes his head negatively at the question. “Neither, Commander. They’re uh... they’re a Jetii. Sir.”
Fox barely notices as he slams his mug down on the Commissary countertop.

Summary
It is the correct choice. The most benefit for the least cost. Elegance-In-Motion will simply wake up on Erid, belly full of proper nutrients, body healed from adventures in space.
The problem is that they both really, really, really don't want to.

The Eridian thrills a high sound that doesn’t get picked up by the translator which means that it has no clear meaning. Like when a human gasps or sucks in a deep breath. It actually sounds a little like that. When they notice that I’m staring straight at them they scramble back into their hiding spot and hold very still.
A child, I realize with a start.
That’s a child!
“Hey,” I call and the kid squeaks again. I was about to get to my feet but abort the movement and crawl closer on my hands and knees until I'm inches away from the xenonite wall. I wait and it takes me much too long to realize that they don’t have to peek around the corner to see if I’m still there.
“Hey there,” I try again, my voice low and calm. It’s my teacher voice, the one I use for shy and scared students.

The fact that I haven’t had to use it for years and it still comes to me automatically almost knocks the air out of my lungs but this is not about me, it’s about making sure the little pebble doesn’t die of fright from the scary alien. “Hi, I’m Grace. It’s alright, you don’t have to be scared.”
