Summary
[Manga spoilers up to chapter 166]
Stanley and Xeno have been friends for nearly as long as either of them can remember. A part of one another's lives, inextricably, important to one another in ways that they won't fully grasp for many years to come.
Stanley doesn't question why the scientist stayed by his side, but he doesn't take it for granted.
As time went by, and the physical distance between them grew, Stanley kept on reaching out — even when a part of his friend became unreachable.
Whether or not he understood what his friend was going through, whether or not his deeper feelings were reciprocated, whether they were near or far apart... he would be there for him.
Thousands of years in stone had a way of changing everything... but a few things would remain the same.

“Regardless, your mentalism seems to have failed you, Mr. Gen. I assure you, Stanley and I are simply good friends.” Xeno looks over at Gen then, studying the way his legs are draped over Senku’s lap. His eyes find Gen and Senku’s intertwined hands.
Xeno nods approvingly at whatever he sees. “Not unlike you and Senku.”
Gen nearly chokes on his own spit.
The Kingdom of Science has certain assumptions regarding Xeno and Stanley's relationship. Too bad they've vastly overestimated the emotional intelligence of one Xeno Houston Wingfield.

“You believe it is strange for cats and dogs to be together?"
Stan stops eating and stares at Xeno like he grew another head because of course it was strange.
"Uh yeah. Different species can't be together."
"Why not?"
Stan gives Xeno a blank expression. He saw where Xeno was coming from, but a cat and dog couple? There was no way that would work out in a million years.
Or: Stan was your average dog. He went to school, hung out with his other dog friends, and avoided talking to cats. Stan has never interacted with cats before until he meets a cat boy his age that changes his whole worldview.
