    Sammie Moore's father tried to protect him from these beasts with God. His cousins Smoke and Stack tried with stakes. Smoke's wife, Annie, tried with hoodoo. But none of them could prepare him for the vampire he'd wind up encountering... or what he'd see in those glowing red eyes. Is he really just seeing his own thoughts and feelings reflected back at him, same as if he were looking into a pair of marbles... or is something actually looking back?
