That is, until he spots a boy sitting in a tree outside his window. A boy who looked just like his missing puppet.

    Summary

“Are we not also friends?” His brow is furrowed, and his mouth is shaped into a smile but it’s confused, like it wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be there but appeared as a default anyway. He stares at Scara, waiting for an answer, and Scara stares back, unable to give it. It seems to be the wrong choice again because after a moment, something in Sethos’ face falls, and the smile on his face becomes a little more forced, though it isn’t at all obvious. “Oh. I understand. Sorry, I guess I got a bit ahead of myself there, huh? Assuming we were friends like that.”

Scara doesn’t know how to tell him that Tighnari is different from him in the sense that Scara doesn’t think about the forest ranger at all in the same way he thinks about him. Scara doesn’t know how to tell him that there’s an ache, a want to be closer to him that isn’t present when he’s with Tighnari.

Scara doesn’t know how to speak, not around Sethos, so when Sethos turns away from him, still with that fake smile plastered on his face, Scara can do nothing to stop it.

    -

In which Scara experiences what it's like to be in love. It's rather overwhelming for him.

“Is that so? Then I guess I’d better finish this up quickly. I missed it the last time you two played.” He picks up the crate again, letting out a small grunt of effort, and the sound makes Scara want to ball his fists for some reason, but he restrains himself. Then Sethos leans toward him, very narrowly avoiding the space Scara considered personal. “I’ll be rooting for you when I get back, Hat Guy.” He says it jokingly, but his voice drops lower as he nears him, almost lost to the chatter of the cafe, though Scara’s ears catch it easily and he pulls the brim of his hat down to try and escape showing the way it buzzes around in his mind pleasantly.

    “Whatever.” He mutters lamely.

    -

In which Scaramouche finds Sethos immensely attractive and he doesn't know what to do with himself, so he resorts to an unfailing(?) tactic: denial.

    Summary

Immediately, Scara is taken aback by dazzlingly green eyes, round and wide as they stare back at him. Water streams down the man’s face in little rivers that trace paths around his plush, parted lips. Even more water trickles down his jaw, and Scara watches the bobbing of the man’s throat as he swallows. It’s too warm, too cold, too hazy, too clear, too…sensual. Too everything, really, and it’s nothing like Scara’s ever seen before, this sight before him.

Then, they lock eyes, and for a few, fleeting moments, Scara feels like he’s being pulled in, compelled to step closer, despite the boundary that is the bridge railing. Those green eyes, alive like grass, bright like emeralds, shimmer with the reflection of the sun off the water, so heated that it’s molten, and they grab him, gaze like a physical touch on his being. Scara shouldn’t be susceptible to this, but he feels himself being drawn in anyway, and the thudding thing in his chest constricts. The man opens his mouth further as if to speak, but Scara is gone before he can even get a word out.

Scara comes across a man under a waterfall in Lumine's teapot and believes he's hallucinating.

    Summary

It starts as a finger placed low on Sethos’s stomach that makes its way slowly upward, tracing the subtle ridges of muscle that flex and tighten under his touch as Sethos’s breathing deepens. Scara slides it further upward, reaching Sethos’s chest and placing his entire hand on Sethos’s skin, smoothing his palm over the mark that branches out like lightning, signifying the emptiness they both share. He can feel Sethos’s heart beating under his palm, alive and steady. His hand then finds its way up to the desert dweller’s neck, his thumb brushing over the lump in Sethos’s throat, and he’s so close that he can feel the heat emanating off the man in waves, can feel his breath fanning across his lips as Sethos stares at him unwaveringly. The sun shining its rays on him, and him alone.

Scara is acting...weird, to say the least. Sethos can't find it in himself to mind it too much.
