Summary
In this canon-divergent reimagining of Season 8, Mulder’s return marks the beginning of a painful and complex reckoning.

Haunted by PTSD and unable to process the trauma of his abduction, Mulder retreats inward, struggling to find his place in a life that no longer feels like his own.
For Scully, his return is a miracle shadowed by heartbreak. She is overjoyed he's alive, but his emotional distance deepens the loneliness she endured during his disappearance. As both grapple with grief, change, and unspoken fears, they must learn to navigate this new chapter together—where patience, healing, and love will be their only way back to each other.
Note: This reimagining of Season 8, offers an alternative path in which Mulder’s emotional distance is explored with greater nuance—granting him the space to confront his trauma and better understand the weight of his experiences. At the same time, it allows Scully to articulate her own heartache and find validation in the profound grief she endured during his abduction, presumed death, and eventual return.

Summary
Saving the world comes at much too high a cost. Mulder and Scully go on the run to protect their unborn son and battle the human replicants who seem intent on world domination.
An AU take of starting in the latter part of season 8 episode Essence. Timeline wise it will eventually cover IWTB territory but with a replicant twist.
This stems from it annoys me how Scully gets relegated to basically being a ball for the men to pass around at the end of episode 8x20 and then all the symbolism nonsense (no woman is wearing nice white satin pyjamas by choice having just given birth I don't care if it makes her look like the virgin Mary). So this is my take on these episodes with a little bit more logic, a lot more MSR. The men still get to run around beating their chests but Scully has a voice and uses it.
