17 years old Sam Winchester is recovering from a bout of bad flu and is looking ahead to a two week school break. And as much as he would like to use that break to finish a school paper, what does he end up doing with it?
Go on a solo hunt with the greatest hunter on the planet that he knows- Not Dean, yet. John Winchester. Just to prove a point. And save some lives. Because that's all that matters to the Winchester family.
With no big brother at his side (until its too late obviously), and no time to do the job he was an expert at (research), he and his dad head up a mountain which was hiding a sinister secret in the darkness of the night and end up facing an evil that will stop at nothing until they are in the ground. Bloody. Again, did he mention the complete lack of a big brother in all of this?
Pre-series fic with Young Sam Winchester (17) and Young (very protective) Dean Winchester (21) and a usual oblivious Father John Winchester (who really is trying to keep his sons safe from all the monsters in the world)

Summary
A witch hunt ends happily for once, and as the brothers are packing to leave Sam falls ill. Thinking its nothing, Dean decides that they'll lay low for a few days to make sure he gets better, but when he only takes turns, getting sicker and sicker by the day, and other people begin to get sick the exact same way, what will Dean have to do to save not only them but his little brother.
