Summary
"You're gonna lock me up again," Rafayel says, a hint of sadness, the slightest of a crack in his voice as he grabs your wrists. His grip tight, firm like he can't afford to let you slip past his fingers again. He looks you in the eye and hopes the emotion isn't obvious.
"You're with them, I just know it. Don't think I'm unaware of what you're about to do," he continues, accusingly, pointedly — brokenly. Tries not to soften the edge even as he almost leans into your touch the moment your palm cups over his cheek. He swears he won't fall for it again, but he always does. Like a fool, he always falls for you.
"You can lock me up then," you offer, a joke to lighten the mood despite your bewilderment. But something in him shifts, a cog in his brain that clicks. Not that you have to know that.
"Of course not," he scoffs, like you're the insane one. But the thought lingers, tempting.
History repeats itself.
