Viktor was pissed. It had been a week since Jayce visited the lab, three since he had worked in it. He shuffled the papers, trying to devise an equation, some solution, trying to come up with anything. His eyebrows knitted together, frustrated that all-nighters were actually 'frustrating' now.
(aka Mel stealing Jayce from Viktor was not acceptable. In an ideal universe where Viktor didn't grow sicker, didn't suffer from the fumes of the fissures and had the strength to pull the moves on Jayce in retaliation)

The Defender and Herald are bitter enemies, only restrained by the thin truce between their cities. But when a class war begins to loom once again, the two are forced to work together to save both their respective homes.

Viktor and Jayce knew about each other but they only ever talked during Fourth year when they were forced to wotk as partners. Jayce was trying really hard to through viktor's thick skin and the latter was not making it easy until something happened that made Viktor realize they were not as different as he thought.
Important: I changed some things such as they start first year at 14 y/o. So at fourth year they are 17 and so on. I treated Hogwarts as a College situation too.
This fic was based on the jayvik hogwarts au comics I was drawing and posting on x/twt!

The voice that was apparently the hat paused, as though it was searching for something, before making a satisfied ‘hmm’ noise, like it had made up its mind. 'You have quite the amount of potential, young one. A drive to learn. A cracking wit. And a mind fit to fight itself out of even the most dire of circumstances, don’t you?'
'I guess?' Viktor responded in his mind and the hat chuckled again.

Summary
It was easier to pine- Jayce knows the shape of pining well. The soft, aching tugs in his chest, the warm, familiar bloom of fondness, the idle daydreams about kisses on cheeks and hand-holding and talking from dawn to dusk. He’s felt that before- it’s a gentle sort of distraction, one he can push away as easily as a kitten batting a ball of yarn.
Then there’s this- this heat. It simmers under his skin whenever his thoughts drift to Viktor, and it pools, overwhelming, in the pit of his stomach when he thinks about Viktor’s hands, his lips, his body underneath Jayce’s own hands.
And of course, everytime Viktor touches him, the heat spikes.
Ok so. It’s official. After 25 years of existence, Jayce Talis is experiencing sexual attraction.

It was soothing to see Viktor untouched by pain or struggles of the day, for once without a crease between his brows or a cringed expression on his face. He looked somehow younger, curled to the couch’s backrest and clinging to the blanket that hugged his body tightly.
Suddenly, Jayce’s face felt warmer.
It seemed intimate, watching Viktor in such a vulnerable state. Somehow though, Jayce couldn’t quite bring himself to move his gaze away. He’d love to see his partner relaxed like this more often. But, he supposed, after what the Council had decided to do with their work, Viktor’s brows would be furrowed in stress even more often than they had been before…
He shook his head. There would be time for worrying later. Now, he needed breakfast.

An accident makes Jayce aware of Viktor's living situation. Fortunately, his own apartment is more than enough to accomodate two people.

Jayce and Viktor, after becoming fast friends during the senior year of their undergraduate program at Piltover University, decide to live together while they complete their masters. As if it wasn't enough to live with each other, they find out that they are both teaching assistants for the same course. When you live and breath the same air for long enough, it's hard not to catch serious feelings. The question is if they're willing to cross that line and risk everything they've built with each other thus far. Somebody said that the home is where the heart is, and maybe it's worth testing that line of logic.
They are scientists, after all.

When Viktor comes to study at Piltover Academy of Excellence, he is of course assigned to Jayce's dorm. This causes Jayce quite the crisis. So, naturally, he's a disaster about it. His friends are no help.

This is a friends to lovers to semi-enemies to lovers again. It will have a bit of angst, a lot of spice, some fluff, and a happy ending. Buckle up, because this bad boy is gonna be a long one!

Jayce’s brain short-circuits. “What?”
Viktor walks over to one of the many piles of books and picks up one of the thicker, dustier tomes. “Humans are all the same,” he mutters. “You all are obsessed with the arcane and what can be done with it, but you never take the time to learn the rules.”

After Viktor goes missing, Jayce takes matters into his own hands, then accidentally gets himself imprisoned right alongside his partner. Or, the fae-au.
