After all, it wasn’t the first time he and T.K. had found themselves at the mercy of an Owen-Gabriel team-up.
What he couldn’t have planned for, however, was just how deeply that disaster would cut into their lives.

Amy is ready for me as soon as I step outside my room, confirming the jet is available and waiting for our departure. We head back down the hallway toward the exit. I hesitate between the stairs and going to my mom’s office to tell her I was leaving. We both need a break to cool off, so I choose the stairs and head down.
Honestly, I should have known it would all go to shit.
