Summary
He wasn’t sorry to be on the trip, but he was worried about how far out of the way they were staying. The family estate had two old homes. Aubrey Hall was closer to London and on better roads. It was easier to get to and generally nicer. The gardens were cultivated and the staff lived in all year round. Their second house was older. It was hard living there in cold weather, and they mostly just kept it warm enough the pipes didn’t freeze. It was called Willowlea. It had a lot of crumbling page history, and right now it was their shelter from a literal storm.
“There’s a sword room! It’s a room full of swords,” Penelope said down the hallway.
Warning: They play with swords and someone gets a little stabbed. I feel this is not unbelievable for our adventurers. Not actually related to the Ides of March, but that did give me the push to get it finished.

“How will I figure out how to get away?”
“You can…” Colin searched for an answer, “take self defense lessons. Or get a bat to keep in here! But you’re also tiny, Pen… So that’s why it’s important that your mum knows now that he shouldn’t be here!”
“Lessons cost money, and it would be a stranger! A bat could do little if I can’t get to it, Colin,” she said his name scoldingly, “It’s great my mum knows, sure. But I need to know I can get away!”
“I’ll pay for lessons,” he offered.
“I want to do this now! Come at me,” she demanded.
“No!”
She stomped her little foot and yelled up at him, “I said, ‘now’, goddamnit!”

After 5 years Penelope comes back into the Bridgerton’s lives, but she’s changed. The confident, feisty, young woman she’d fought hard to be is hidden under a silent, careful, compliant ruse.
