“I could’ve,” Dream admits. “So many times.”
Sapnap stays quiet a moment, and while Dream sniffles, the little girl in his lap turns, taps against his face like the tears are common. Dream kisses at her hand, promises her he is okay. He acts like nothing is wrong. Like Sapnap isn’t crying in front of him too, when he should be scolding Dream.
“Why didn’t you?” Sapnap asks as he swipes the back of his hand over his nose. “I mean, not even George?”
The mention of their other friend brings Dream into a new reality. Soft, brown, messy hair on his screen, a grin that laughs and cheeks that turn rosy any time Dream teases him. A light squeal into his headset at the late hours of the night, once Dream is alone in his tranquility. George, the rough paper that sands Dream down. Warm, fluffy bread. Fuck, Dream thinks.
Dream decides to tell his friends about his daughter right before they move in.

The brunet snaps his head towards Dream, eyes wide and cheeks even more flushed than before. He switches between looking at Dream and looking at the books, apparently trying to make a decision.
“Um, do you work here?” the man finally asks and dear god, he’s British. Of course he is. Because his looks just aren’t enough, he just needs to sound like he came straight from the blond’s wet dreams.
“Y-yeah,” What- “I work here.” the fuck?
or, Dream comes home for spring break and meets George, a pretty brunet, in his go-to bookstore. He’s in for a surprise when later that day he meets him again, this time as his brother’s new boyfriend.

Summary
Luckily, for him, he finds one in a city he never thought he would return to, Florida.
Maybe it was fate, but he doubts it because he knows that a certain someone lives well over an hour away, and his parents moved out of state earlier in George’s uni years, so there’s no reason to go back to where he isn’t sure if promises were kept or broken, where a certain someone still promises to be.
He should be fine, for the most part.
or, when George leaves for University under Dream's radar, Dream is left alone and heartbroken. George makes a hopeless promise to come back to Dream, and when he does, it is under completely different circumstances.
